Happy #musicmonday ye folk of the internet!

This week, for a homework assignment, I was supposed to create a song using primarily samples. So the entire bedrock of this song was crafted with sampled sounds, mostly from Logic Pro’s sample library.

My studies lately have been focused strongly on various methods of sampling, as well as a pretty deep dive into the history of Hip-Hop, so I felt like I needed a little bit of trap groove in there.

But as I was slowly building the song, it just ended up turning into a Reggae groove. I didn’t set out with any particular goal in mind; I just knew that I had to create a song, and that it was going to have some bass in it. But as I started stacking samples in there and messing around with different sounds, it just ended up being a Reggae, which I totally dug!

So, not very traditional Hip-Hop, but still harkening to that history of how Hip-Hop started, with people sampling cool sounds and making sounds out of samples.
