With a dynamic career spanning diverse genres and premier venues, Trevor Watson is an accomplished bassist specializing in both electric and upright bass. A dedicated performer, recording artist, and educator, Trevor has played with the 23rd and 229th Army Bands, toured internationally, and worked alongside artists such as Jenny Oaks-Baker, Oyoyo Joi, and Casey Elliot. Known for a rich, versatile sound and deep musicality, Trevor brings precision, groove, and energy to every performance, whether in a jazz ensemble, symphony, or recording studio.

Passionate about crafting meaningful musical experiences, he thrives on collaboration, storytelling through music, and pushing creative boundaries. From performing at Abravanel Hall and the Eccles Theater to touring Morocco with the Army Band and teaching masterclasses at Brigham Young University's Bass Day festival, Trevor has built a career at the intersection of live performance, recording, and music technology. Recent projects include a film scoring venture with Brigham Young University, recording and mixing for The Civilians and 3#, and frequent studio work with over 100 YouTube recordings accumulating 150K+ views. Whether playing jazz, rock, funk, or Afro-Cuban grooves, Trevor seamlessly adapts across styles, delivering compelling performances.

A decorated graduate of the Army School of Music, he brings discipline and artistry to every musical endeavor. Holding a Bachelor of Arts in Music and currently pursuing a Master’s in Music Technology, Trevor combines technical expertise with a passion for innovation. In addition to bass performance, Trevor offers professional recording and mixing services as well as masterclasses in bass performance and live performance techniques. With upcoming performances and recording projects on the horizon, Trevor continues to shape the musical landscape with skill, creativity, and a relentless dedication to the craft.

A brief history of the life and journey of bassist/producer/engineer founder of Watson Creative

  • 1997

    Began learning bass guitar - 1997

    Learning songs and jamming with his sibling and friends.

  • 1999

    Learned basic HTML and built his first epic Starcraft clan page - no longer available :( - 1999

    What started out as a fun little hobby working through a book called 'HTML in 24 Hours' (they were simpler times), turned into something else . . . eventually.

  • 2001

    Started studying jazz improvisation and upright bass - 2001

    After seeing the amazing Ray Brown Trio live, Trevor spent hours upon hours in the practice room after signing up for the summer orchestra program at his local high school.

  • 2004

    Began studying music at Mesa Community College, with a focus on jazz improvisation - 2004

    Trevor played in every ensemble he could through high school: jazz band, orchestra, concert band, percussion ensemble . . . anything, he auditioned and was accepted into the MCC jazz improvisation program.

  • 2008

    Transferred to the music program at Brigham Young University - 2008

    Transferred to the music program at Brigham Young University

    After 1 year at MCC and 2 year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Trevor transferred and was accepted to the music program at BYU.

  • 2009-2010

    Enlisted in the Army and joined the 23rd Army Band as an Army musician - 2009-2010

    While studying music an opportunity to audition for the 23rd Army Band was presented to him. Upon learning what the Army could offer musicians Trevor auditioned, enlisted and graduated with honors from the Army School of Music.

    Graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Brigham Young University - 2014

    After a longer-than-expected tenure at BYU, Trevor graduated with his degree and pursued full-time in the tech industry.

  • 2015

    Began a career in the tech industry as a Solutions Consultant and formed the jazz trio 3# - 2015

    Began a career in the tech industry as a Solutions Consultant and formed the jazz trio 3#

    While working in the tech world, Trevor never stopped playing music. He continued to freelance as much as he could and formed 3# Jazz Trio with two great friends from college Ammon Doman and Matt Tippetts.

  • 2019

    Pivoted from consulting to web development - 2019

    After various roles and companies doing technical consulting, Trevor left consulting to do a web development boot camp through DevPoint Labs.

  • 2020

    Formed Watson Creative Studios - 2020

    Formed Watson Creative Studios

    Primarily worked as a freelance web developer for a financial tech company and was eventually hired full-time for them. Continued performing as an Army and freelance musician.

  • 2024

    Left the tech industry to pursue full-time music with Watson Creative - 2024

    Began working on a Master's Degree in Music Technology through Southern Utah University, focused on recording studio technology.

  • Present

    Building Watson Creative Studios and other endeavors - Present

    The life of a musician is varied. Trevor works as a freelance bassist, producer, mix engineer, software engineer, and also has several other side gigs including starting a non-profit with his dad to serve returned missionary for their church in third-world countries.
